The
FUN BARN's
First Annual Old-Time Music Festival
Thursday, Friday & Saturday
October 9, 10 & 11, 2008
(Plus a special Wednesday evening open stage show!)
There's so much great
traditional-style country, bluegrass and old-timey music
around that the Fun Barn folks just had to gather some
of the best examples together for a signature Fun Barn
event. Our First Annual Old-Time Music Festival
will feature such favorites as
Daryl Schiff & Co. (Martina McBride's daddy),
Cowboy Jim Garling
from Oklahoma, Bob & Barb Lewis
from southern Missouri, the hilarious
O'Roark Brothers
from Kansas City, steel guitar champion
Curt Shoemaker and
comedy country act Tex & Mary
Schutz.
In addition to continual concerts and theme shows,
there's an Entertainers' Showcase on Thursday evening, a
Spotlight on Young Entertainers, some gospel music gatherin's and patriotic music specials,
plus craft booths, entertainers' product booths, and
lots of opportunity to make special memories.
Plenty of parking, RV sites (most "dry"), two
stages (one in the Fun Barn, one outdoors), great food
on-site, plus special festival rates at area supporting
motels combine to make a kick-butt festival for the
whole family. It's an event you
won't want to miss!
Festival Entertainers...
Daryl Schiff & Co.
You may Daryl better as Martina
McBride's daddy or the host of the popular Wilmore Opry
in Wilmore, Kansas, but once you've heard his hard-drivin'
country music, you'll never forget that he's a great
artist in his own right. He'll be joined by
guitarist Gene Winter and Rick Schiff on keyboards.
These guys blend honky-tonk country, ballads, rockabilly
country, and a few originals selections for a
performance that will keep you spellbound!
Cowboy Jim Garling
Jim's music is a mix of cowboy and
country accented by Western swing sounds, some
standards, some originals. He's a performer who
works on a regular basis with Byron Berline and has even
had the privilege of having Vince Gill singing harmony
with him onstage. And he's a guitar teacher as
well.
Bob & Barb Lewis
Bob & Barb sing the really old songs in a
beautiful, plaintive
old-timey
way that is reminiscent of The Carter Family, Lulabelle
& Scottie and George & Melba. Beautiful harmonies,
great songs and a style straight out of the Missouri
hills that will surely strike your fancy.
The O'Roark Brothers
Mike & Mitch O'Roark are a duo with a
mission to make you laugh...and if you don't, you may be
going deaf! Their music is mostly country, with a
little bluegrass and country pop thrown in, but their
performance is so much more than good music...it's an
experience you'll never forget!
Curt Shoemaker
This recent inductee into the Kansas Steel
Guitar Hall of Fame is known as "The Steel Man" and his
wonderfully country style can be heard on many an
artist's CD and at festivals across the entire Midwest.
He'll be doing his own show at the Fun Barn Festival,
but will likely also help out other entertainers as
well. Yep, he's that good!
Tex & Mary Schutz
A little bit sassy, a little bit
silly, a little bit serious...and a whole lot country.
That's how Tex & Mary describe their traditional country
music. You've seen them on RFD-TV's Midwest
Country series for several years now and at RV rallies,
music festivals and community events across the
country...and now they'll be joining us at our Old-Time
Music Festival!
